The Times of India Group has reportedly undergone a restructuring exercise this week, impacting an estimated 40 employees, although the exact number remains unverified.
This restructuring is part of a broader trend within the advertising and media industry, where companies are reassessing their organizational structures and business priorities.
Employees of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL) have been informed of their transfer to Times Horizon Private Limited (THPL) effective September 1, 2026, as part of the group's ongoing restructuring and demerger.
An internal email reassured employees that this transfer is a "transfer of employment and not a separation from service," emphasizing continuity of employment despite the change in legal entity.

Times of India Group's Response is understood to have undertaken a restructuring exercise this week, with speculations suggesting that a significant number of employees have been impacted.

Industry sources indicate that around 40 employees may have been asked to leave this week itself. However, the exact number of roles affected and the rationale behind the exercise could not be independently verified at the time of publication.

The development comes amid a broader period of restructuring across the Times of India group and advertising & media industry, as agencies and media businesses reassess organisational structures, costs and business priorities.

Questions were sent to Sivakumar Sundaram, CEO (Publishing) BCCL group seeking clarity on whether the move forms part of a wider organisational or business realignment.
